Venus D. Benigno, M.D., is an internationally educated professional (IEP) with over 20 years of experience in the medical, mental, and public health fields.
She is knowledgeable in a variety of mental health professional roles and settings including as a clinician (psychiatrist) in several hospitals and a university. Benigno’s experience extends as far as the academic fields with her previous roles as a mentor and professor, counsellor and psychotherapist in addition to volunteering in the community. She is a registered psychotherapist of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and also a recipient of the Certificate in Project Management (Technical Professionals) from Ryerson University.
She shares her enthusiasm for joining the ITMD practicum experience to demonstrate the knowledge areas gained on research methodologies, health informatics, project management in the health profession and strengthen professional health communication and leadership.
Currently, she is a psychotherapist at the Better Life Counselling Centre in North York, ON, working with adults to overcome their mental health challenges and heal through language-specific marital therapy.
